Cesme Attractions
Cesme is a great place to be at. Geographically, its location is one of the best in the whole of Turkey. It is situated at the top of the peninsula, and has abundance of hot water springs, thermal baths and of course, adventure sports. If you want sun, sea and sand together, Cesme is the place that has et all.
The Cesme Museum is an important landmark. It is built inside the old Cesme Fort. The fort was constructed in 1508 during the reign of Beyazit second. It showcases the ruins of Ildiri (Erythrai), some as old as 3000 BC. Most important are the works discovered from the rescue excavations made in Ildiri (Erythrai) archaic city, which have been continuing since 1964. God and goddess sculptures made of cooked earth, busts, marble sculptures, silver and bronze coins, golden frames, amphora are being exhibited.
Another interesting feature of Cesme is the Cesme Hot Springs Beach on Izmir - Cesme Road. The water is as hot as 58 degrees and these springs are enriched with sodium chloride, potassium chloride and magnesium chloride. There are modern facilities available nearby these springs, they have thermal pools and baths inside them. Transportation is provided by Cesme buses from Uckuyular.
The Cesme beach is actually one of the world's best beaches. It is a totally well maintained beach, with white sand and crystal water. The bay here is ideal for water sports. Windsurfing and Sailing are the most important ones, there is even an International Windsurfing Race held every year in Cesme and Alacati, apart from Bodrum. Other activities popular here are fishing in Dalyan, drive around Monastir Mountain can do wonders. If you travel in a yacht, you can become lucky and spot Mediterranean seals swimming in the water. There is a summer festival sponsored by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Cesme is also the Venue for International Music Festival.
Above all it is case's beaches, the longest on the Aegean coast, and turquoise sea which bring holidaymakers back here again and again.
